In the world of refrigerator manufactures many brand names come and go quite often. In fact, there are many companies that become part of other manufactures even though the brand name might live on. However, that brand name product might not be the same as you once remember it it. This is especially true with Maytag Refrigerator. The company of Maytag had its beginnings in 1893 and was a leading producer of fine quality washing machines. It was in the year of 1946 that this company began making its first line of refrigerators and in 1989 it made its line of refrigerators to match the other appliances that they made.
While Maytag fridges were popular their popularity never quite reached the height of their washing machines designed for home use but, it was not because the company did not take a lead in innovations in the refrigerator industry. Maytag was one of the first companies to come out with a French door design as well as a cabinet depth refrigerator and external ice and water features, all features which are sought after in refrigerators today.
In the year 2007 the Maytag company was absorbed into the Whirlpool corporation. This in turn caused some big changes to happen with the refrigerator line. There were a number of Maytag factories that closed down and that Maytag name was re-branded under Whirlpool appliances. In fact, the Whirlpool company makes a number of different refrigerators that are under a different brand names such as their own.
A Maytag fridge nowadays will come in all sorts of sizes, styles, functions, shapes, and prices. Some models will have a side by side styles, french door styles, and some with either bottom freezers or top freezers. There are a number of models that have easy glide shelves and even spill catchers to make the job of cleaning a lot easier.
The strange thing is their are a number of consumers that will compare the brand of Maytag and Whirlpool not knowing that they are both made by the same company nowadays. There are still many people in today’s world that will purchase the Maytag Refrigerators because they have put their trust in it in the past.
Often times whenever a company buys another out, they will sell the lower and higher end models of that original product. They do this in hopes to obtain the larger part of the market and will make one brand name far superior to the others. However, this does not seem to be what the Whirlpool corporation has done by purchasing Maytag. It seems that both production lines that Whirlpool puts out and very comparable to the consumers.
In addition, there will be some brand names that stick out to people far more than others. Most of the time consumers will return to a brand name product that they know of or have used in the past such as Maytag fridge parts. This is the reason why a company such as Whirlpool will keep that product line since people are usually creatures of happen and do not like change all that much. Therefore, keeping a brand name and the quality of that product line such as Maytag fridges is good business for corporations like Whirlpool.
